TEAM PROJECT REPORT AND PRESENTATION GUIDELINES Download Word file
Over the next ten weeks, you will choose, manage, and implement a group project. Your team will turn in a 5- to 10-page written report about your project at the end of the course. Each team member will receive a copy of the report with feedback from the instructor.
Report Elements The written report should consist of the following
elements:
Cover page with name of project, date, and names of team members
Executive summary (one page: do this after the other sections are complete)
Section 1. Description of project: What is it? What inspired your choice?
Section 2. Description of your process
o Planning
process: How did you get started? o Timeline (Gantt chart)
Section 3. Description of implementation
o Description
of day-by-day activities
o How did you
plan? How did you communicate?
o How did you
store files?
o Challenges
you faced/solutions you found
Section 4. Results of project: What happened? Was your project a success?
Section 5. Summary of the project, including conclusions and recommendations:
What would you have done differently in managing your project?
Appendices: samples of documents generated (proposal, flyers, announcements,
etc.)
Report Format The report should be formatted as a standard business-style report (see the GDP keyboarding book): single-spaced; default margins (1 or 1.25 inches), Times New Roman 12-point font; page numbers in the upper right corner of header; side headings capped, bold. Turn it in unstapled, either held together with a paper clip or in some kind of folder that can be removed for copying. Make sure there is time for everyone to read and edit the report before the final copy is printed, and remember to spellcheck.
Presentation Guidelines Your team will present a summary of its project at the end of the term. The presentation should be long enough to fully describe how your team managed the project. Everyone must present a portion of the presentation. You do not have to use PowerPoint. Be prepared to answer questions during the presentation. If your project involves giving a workshop/seminar/presentation on a specific topic to an audience—for example, discussing how to use Career Services—then you should plan the workshop early enough for you to incorporate it into your final report and presentation.
Tips for working on a team project • Exchange phone numbers and email addresses. • Document everything you do on the project as you go. • Do you need a leader? Some groups elect a project manager. Others work by consensus, with no leader. • Create subcommittees to handle tasks. • Create a yahoogroup or use Google docs to store and share files via the Web. • Select one editor to gather the report sections into one file.
